I’m a long-hair miniature dachshund and I was born on October 27, 2010 in Tennessee. Four days later, I was invited to come live in Chicago when I reached 8 weeks old. My new mommy and daddy knew I was their baby as soon as they called Miss Tammy on Halloween and she told them about me. I’m just that cute!! I have one sister and one brother who were adopted by other wonderful families. Their names were Princess and Prince…but my name has always been Kate, since mommy got to pick it out so soon after I was born!
On December 21, 2010, my new mommy and daddy drove all the way from Michigan (after seeing daddy’s family for Christmas) to Tennessee to pick me up the next morning. I was so excited to meet them on the 22nd that I wouldn’t stop wining when they arrived. I wanted to be held, and loved, and snuggled forever and ever!
We left Tennessee that morning and drove 10 hours up to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin to spend Christmas with mommy’s family. I slept on mommy’s shoulders under her hair the whole ride. It was so cozy! Christmas in Lake Geneva was perfect. I was snuggled by Aunt Stephanie and Elizabeth 24/7. Grandpa and Grandma loved me the moment they saw me! I was sad when everyone went to a Christmas show and I had to stay in my playpen all alone. That was scary, but they all came back and loved me even more!
I was mad when they tried to dress me up…I don’t wear dresses!
My first year was a whirlwind of learning the City and being a puppy. Here are some of my favorite memories!
Sleeping on the couch of one of mommy’s friend’s houses.
Sitting in the palm of mommy’s hands. I was so tiny!
Snuggling with my monkey friend…but I later ripped his ears off and took the stuffing out. I was not allowed to play with him anymore after that.
Not necessarily a “good” memory, but here’s a post-bathtime pic.
I made my debut on The Daily Puppy with this fancy pose!
1st day of puppy kindergarten!
Showing mommy & daddy who’s boss.
Posing for the camera. I do a lot of that!
Me and my favorite sitter, Julie! She owns Earth Pups and I LOVE EARTH PUPS.
This is when I saw the Sears Tower for the first time and I got the tag line “little Bug, big world”. I don’t know what that means.
Mommy & Daddy drag me to so many places. This was my first picnic. I slept.
I guess it was time I learned how to swim. EEK!
Did I tell you yet that I sleep a lot?
Okay, I like swimming now!
Happy Birthday to ME! Happy Halloweenie too!
Thanksgiving in Montana, where I met my first deer. Yes, mommy & daddy drove me all the way to Helena, MT. I slept almost the whole way. I love traveling! Little Bug, Big World! I get it now!
A whole year later, and they’ve turned me into a Badger lover. It’s okay, I kinda like my family! But if I ever see a badger…
I’m a big girl now (TWO!) and mommy just started a blog with MY NAME in it! I hear I’m also getting a little sister named Trudy this year if I’m lucky. If she’s lucky, she’ll be less cute than me because I hear I have a little ‘tude and I’m pretty sure I’m what they call “jealous”. Just wait until the human babies start coming!
Thanks for stopping by and reading about my first year with my mommy & daddy. I know there’s a post about cookies coming up because I tried to sneak a lick of the leftovers!
